Kiosks – Casablanca

Site : Casablanca, Morocco
Client : City of Casablanca
Program : Conception of the city’s kiosks
Cost : 110.000 €
Date : 2010
Contrary to the boxy metallic kiosks scattered throughout the streets of Casablanca and other cities throughout the world, this kiosk project aims to define a Casablancan identity for itself. Like the Art Nouveau entry to the Parisian metro or London’s phone booths, this kiosk attempts to define a specific and readily identifiable urban identity.
Rather than a box, these kiosks are composed as walls, fragments of a greater imaginary wall which are scattered throughout the city. The walls are transformable; when closed, the kiosk, glowing in the night, presents itself as a mute piece of urban infrastructure; when open during the day, its arms reach out to enfold passersby into its interior.
