Invisible Cities of Visible Infrastructure. Tarik Oualalou @ TEDxRoma 2017.

Architecture is a very old and stubborn discipline that does not move very quickly; it is subject to gravity, human necessities and desires. No amount of technology has managed to change the speed at which we make architecture.
But for all of its slowness and possibly because of it, it has had for the last 500 years and until very recently the function of imagining possible futures. From quattrocento ideal cities like Filarete’s Sforzinda all the way to the 1960’s explorations like Archigram’s Walking City, architects have always considered it necessary to speculate on the future of human settlements.
